This is the story of either an odd coincidence, or something weirder and deeper. You decide.

Nahh, don't need to decide. I just play the odds and always vote for "weirder and deeper".

Before I got to the paragraph where you mentioned it, I immediately thought of Coppola's The Conversation when you described the specific house-destroying BCS scene as its likely inspiration. Interesting that Bradbury got there earlier, but then-- madness and obsession are hardly recent phenomena.

As to deja vu, ever since The Matrix, whenever someone brings up the subject, I can't help but think of "the Matrix being changed/reset".

(From the scene where Neo sees a black cat walk by a doorway, then sees the same cat walk by the same doorway again a few moments later. He finds it simply odd, but Morpheus and Trinity get very nervous, stating that "deja vu means that something significant was just altered in The Matrix", with the clear implication that this is very, very bad.)
