Some Random Super Bowl Thoughts
Feb. 16th, 2022 06:31 pm-- You'd think, as a Giants fan, I would begrudge Odell Beckham Jr. his Super Bowl ring. But I don't. His performance was a testament to his immense talent, a talent rarely displayed in New York after his rookie season and not seen in Cleveland at all. I hope he recovers from the knee injury and plays many productive seasons in Los Angeles.
-- With Beckham out, the Bengals could put man coverage on the Rams' collection of scrubs and double up on Cooper Kupp. It sounds easy, but they still couldn't stop him. MVP.
-- I'd be a lot more impressed with the performance of the Rams' defensive line if the Bengals didn't have the WORST offensive line ever to play in a Super Bowl. If the Bengals want Joe Burrow to survive for the next three seasons, they have to fix that line... pronto.
-- Speaking of offensive lines, the Rams could not get the running game going at all. Which makes the eventual outcome all the more amazing.
-- Evan McPherson was perfect for the entire post-season run: 14-for-14 in field goal attempts and every extra point. Could he have made a 67 yarder to tie it? Would have loved to see him try.
-- Favorite commercial: the Squarespace ad starring Zendaya, narrated by Andre Benjamin and directed by Edgar Wright. Charming and visually imaginative.
-- Snoop was in great form at halftime, but I was there for Mary J. Blige and "No More Drama." She dominated.
