The Inevitable
Mar. 15th, 2020 08:01 pmNYC closed its schools through Easter vacation. At least.
My wife is off tomorrow, then goes in for "remote education" training Tuesday through Thursday. From Friday onward, she's home with the boy.
I guess I'm going back to work...

Date: 2020-03-16 01:34 am (UTC)That's a lot of isolation time. I'm going to need to relieve her on occasion.

Date: 2020-03-16 01:45 am (UTC)It's not that bad. She has the kid and you. ;-)
My brother's family is isolated in the middle of a farm in upstate NY. They do have 11 acres to play around in though...unlike me. If I get isolated, I'm stuck in a one bedroom apartment and I'm not sure it will work considering mail, laundry, deliveries - all require me exiting to a shared space. This is a bridge I will worry about when I cross it. Everyone in the building is more or less in the same situation though. As is most of NYC. LOL!
It's kind of impossible to quarantine NYC.

Date: 2020-03-16 02:52 am (UTC)Soooo....
Even if they close up Borough Park (unlikely), management might just reassign me elsewhere. Over the years, I've been subbing at branches all over Brooklyn during summer vacation months. Maybe management sees me as a proven performer in that respect.
I don't want P & D cooped up together for too long without a break. When they go on vacation together for a few days, they usually have a ball together....then they have a blowout fight... then settle down, enjoy themselves again... then come home and they're ready to get back to school/work.
I don't know how they'll react to prolonged isolation.

Date: 2020-03-16 01:33 pm (UTC)Find a way to cope, like everyone else? (shrugs). Right now, at work, we're trying to figure out the definition of "non-essential" employee who can work from home. All the other administrative functions have been sent home but us. It's not forever...China turned around after four months. They've lifted restrictions and gone back to normal now. The virus first popped in China in January.
