Eagles 38, Giants 7

Well, I knew this could happen. But I was hoping the Giants would be more competitive.

Nope.

The Eagles completely outclassed them. Even after Philly switched over to the run game, the Giants couldn't stop them from eating huge chunks of time off the clock.

This was a great season for the Giants. Ten wins is a huge accomplishment (they had four last year). But this game showed how much further they have to go. Give contract extensions to Jones and Barkley. Draft an A1 wide receiver or linebacker. Pay that big salary cap money for an all pro offensive lineman.

We've only just begun.

Your co-workers, if they're real Giants fans, shouldn't be too disappointed. If you told them in September that the Giants would win ten games and take down the Vikings (in Minnesota!) in the playoffs, they'd take that in a second.

The Giants have a great new coaching staff, a lot of talent, and they can beat 80% of the NFL. It's leveling up to compete with the other 20% (your Eagles, Cowboys, 49ers, et al.) that's going to be the challenge.

(I know you're not a football person. But if you get roped into a conversation about the Giants, feel free to quote me!)

Actually you sound like my co-workers. They talk like that a lot. Leo pretty much goes into that kind of detail.

Wales is into the Buffalo Bills - it's her guilty pleasure, apparently.

She's more into the Chiefs, so she'll be fine.

I only care about the Giants. It's the only football team outside of the Penn State Nittany Lions, I've cared about. I hate the Chiefs - so as long as they lose, we're good.

I'll watch the Superbowl and have - but only if the Giants are playing.
